Makeup Look #1 Pink Makeup
Step 1: Begin with a base
If you want to look good in pink you have to highlight your face well.
Work with you natural pink tones and apply boldly under your eyes. The makeup artist states she highlights under the eyes making a “W” shape. If the under eye area is brightened pink will suit any skin tone.
Base Makeup Step 2: Apply blush with the highlighter.
Base Makeup Step 3: Blend the highlighter and blush with a ruby cell puff (air puff). It will blend the makeup in to your skin.
This will brighten the eye area and will brighten the skin tone.
Tip: If you brighten the cheek bones the eye line slants upwards.
Base Makeup Step 4: Apply foundation everywhere else to create dimension.
Base Makeup Step 5: Lightly apply highlighter. She applies it lightly to the T-Zone, chin, cupid’s bow, and a little on the cheeks.
Tips to make pink makeup not look trashy:
- Must see makeup from far. Use the soft, soft, strong method of application. Ex: If your eyes are strong, go backwards and have soft cheeks and soft lips. If your eyes are strong then everything else should be soft.
STEP2: Mix pink and grey eyeshadow for an elegant but lovely look.
Makeup Artist Hyun Jeung states that pink eyeshadow can be provocative so she uses an elegant gray and brown to soften the look.
Tip: Water brings out color and shimmer.
When using an eyeshadow with shimmer spray water so the color will be more vibrant. It will not ruin the eyeshadow and will dry on its’ own.
Eye Makeup Step 1: Select the brown color and apply it to the eye crease. This will make “shadows” and define the eyes. Jae Kyung comments that it looks like eyeliner b/c it was sprayed with water.
Eye Makeup Step 2: Blend out the eyeshadow leaving an empty space. If you do this the shadow goes upwards and makes your eyes look full. Basically she is blending upwards towards the brow bone only on the outer 1/3 of the eye area.
Eye Makeup Step 3: Apply pink to the lid to give a feeling of spring. Apply pink eyeshadow with a flat brush. The pink color makes the applied area look brighter and makes the eyes look cooler.
Eye Makeup Step 4: Apply eyeliner to the inner and outer parts and leave the middle empty.
Bring the inner part of the under eye to a point. Leave the middle empty. She then draws the line downwards for a friendly look.
Special guest IU states that her eyes are closed at the end so she also leaves the middle empty and draws the line downwards to maker her eyes look bigger.
Eye Makeup Step 5: Apply gray under the eye to make your eyes more mysterious.
Apply the gray color under the eyes. Blend the color upwards to lift up your eyes.
Basically she blended the gray with the under outer eye line and blended it on the outer 1/3 of the upper eye to create a small wing.
The mascara is then applied in a zig zag motion and she lightly applies a pink lipstick. ( This happens while the other MCs talk)
Eye makeup Step 6: The finishing touch! Apply pink eyeshadow to the edges for warmth.
Final step just blend the edges to warm it up. She uses a dark bubble gum pink eyeshadow for this step. Has a rosy pink look to it.
STEP 3: Blush
Apply pink blush under the cheekbones to make your face seem small and slim.
How to apply blush: Apply it under the cheekbones and lift at the front of the cheekbones. When you apply it along your cheekbones your face turns red. You have to apply underneath the cheekbone to raise it.
Lip color info: The color in 2013 that men wanted to steal was cherry pink. (Trend has passed) For 2014 the color is radiant orchid. Its a mix between violet and pink.
Tip: The 2014 S/S trend color is radiant orchid. Energetic red and cool blue mix to create a color with pink and violet hues.
Step 3: Apply radiant orchid all over the lips and a darker color in the center to make a gradation as if holding a petal.
First she applies a light pink all over the lips she then applies the “color” in the center. In this case the “color” is a violet shade.
Makeup Artist Hyun Jeung States that when this color shines through you can look younger. In general pink can make you look younger.
Makeup Look #2
Makeup Artist Seung Won presents his technique and skills with an orange makeup look.
His technique is makeup that focuses on one part.
First is the eyes, then the cheeks, then the lips. Emphasize one point at a time and see how it makes the rest of the face look. Then tone it down to emphasize another section and repeat.
Tip: To make a radiant and fresh look hydrate the skin. Apply a soothing balm with a brush to the face. Because he is using a brush the balm does not become too rich and the makeup will not fall off.
How to make your face radiant: Apply the balm thinly with a brush so it doesn’t cake. The brush is too light to make texture.
Step 1: Apply foundation thinly so it sticks.
Makeup Artist Seung Won applies foundation along the hairline then applies it again vertically. He then lightly brushes the face in a diagonal sweeping motion in quick strokes. He states that doing this will even out the foundation in the pores.
TIP: To determine if you have warm or cool tone skin, collect blood in the tip of your finger. You can determine it two ways by if it’s more red or pink. If its more pink you have a cool tone, if its more red you have a warm tone.
Makeup ArtistS eung Won states warm tone is more compatible with orange and cool tone is more compatible with pink. That’s why IU is team pink and In Na is team orange.
In Na asks about men’s skin tone and Seung Won says he has a warm tone and In Na has spring skin. He says her skin is ideal because only 10% of the women in the world have it.
Spring tone: She has a yellow tone, but with bright and clear skin.
He has fall skin and says men usually have skin like his.
Back to the base makeup:

When he first applies foundation it was lighter, but you can use your fingers to pat it down. Doing this will create makeup that does not smear. This means the makeup is completely adhered to the skin.

Apply a defined orange to the center of the lips to create two tones.
Apply defined orange to the center of lips with a lip brush.
Tip: After this touch up the cheeks with foundation. Using the foundation brush lightly apply foundation over the edges of the blush.
Lastly: Fill in the lips.
When the lip line is emphasized it creates a confident appearance.
After these makeup demonstrations are completed the two makeup artists showcase their work.
In the end everyone agrees that both colors are versatile and can be altered to create a variety of looks.
From this episode I learned to apply blush under the foundation for a softer look.
Winging your under eyeliner downwards creates the appearance of larger eyes.
Applying moisturizer thinly with a brush before foundation helps to adhere the foundation to skin.
The soft, soft, strong makeup application and the emphasize one point at a time concept.
