The show “#MyKPop” emphasizes the power of the hashtag on social media. Through hashtags people all over the world are able to connect with others and bond over their love for KPop.
This short series chronicles the lives of American KPop lovers and their experience at K-Con. Viewers are able to glimpse into the lives of these KPop fans and see how KPop has influenced their lives. Not only do they love the music but it has presented them with opportunities and has led them to what they want to do in life. The show gives viewers a look in to how the Korean Wave has impacted the lives of American KPop fans.
To be honest my family and I watch this show whenever it is playing on MNet America. For us it is interesting to see other Americans that are interested in KPop and the culture surrounding the Korean Wave that has hit the world. Personally “the hashtag” has helped my sister and I connect with other people world wide who like KPop and all things Korean related.
Our family’s involvement with KPop began about two years ago and it has led us to find other Korean related things that we love. For example my two year old niece loves watching Pororo and has a habit of yelling “Omo” when she gets excited. My sister-in-law and father are K-Drama Super Fans. My younger sister was an online admin for Teen Top [Twitter account: @Its_TeenTop]and had the opportunity to chat with them. My mother, sister, sister-in-law and I are obsessed with K-Beauty products and skin care products. And the list goes on. LOL
Over all my family was very much interested in this television program and found it to be interesting to see how KPop has influenced the interests and lives of other American KPop fans.
This show can be found on MNet America which is offered through Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Charter and Cox. You can also find MNet America content online here.
This show features a variety of KPop enthusiasts from an American Girl Group called “Coco Avenue” to a father. You will see YouTube personalities, people that love dancing and people who just love the music.
This show follows a diverse group of KPop enthusiasts over their three day journey through KCon 2013. From their background story to their final thoughts on KCon you get a look in to the life of each individual.
After watching this show my family has grown closer and we are now experiencing more Korean Cultural things together. Our ultimate goal is to attend K-Con 2015, hopefully we make it. I want to go for the cosmetics and my sister wants to go for the K-Pop stars and strangely enough my father wants to go to meet some actors. LOL
